Levada do Paul II
Um Caminho para Todos
A level 1.2 km beside the levada at Rabaçal, built so that people with limited mobility can get into this landscape too.
- Distance 1.2 km
- Walking time 30 min
- Highest point 1,280 m
- Route There and back
Official figures. Walking times are moving times: they assume you never stop.
The route
The walk
One metre of height gain across the whole thing. The tourism board describes it under the heading "um caminho para todos" and says it was prepared to be accessible to anyone, including people with motor disabilities.
We will not go further than that, because nothing official says more. Nobody publishes the surface type, the width, whether there are passing places, or whether the toilets at Rabaçal are accessible. If you are planning around a wheelchair, ring the IFCN before you drive up there. We would rather say that than let you find out at the top.
It starts at the ER 105 level beside the loading chamber, so it does not need the shuttle. Parking is on the north side of the reservoir.
Note that the Calheta council uses the name Levada do Paul II for a much longer walk, nearly 10 km to the Cova Grande forestry post. The classified trail is the short accessible section at the start of it.
Before you go
Where to park

Toilets, water and food
Toilets at the Rabaçal forestry house, which is down the paved road rather than at this trailhead. Whether they are accessible is not published.
